Photos sometimes merge two or more things that don’t normally belong together, yet sometimes, oddly, they fit. Our WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge is to find merged images.
On a walk today, my hubby and I passed this dead tree, which appeared to have fresh growth coming out of the end. Actually, the new growth is a separate plant growing up between the dead tree’s branches:
And then there is the merger of Chinese and American cultures in San Francisco’s Chinatown:
And the merger of I. M. Pei’s modern glass pyramids with the building and grounds of the more classical Musee du Louvre:
Or the juxtaposition of the ancient military watchtowers of China’s Great Wall to the adjacent tourist station and gift shop that sit at the entry to the wall at Badaling:

I think they are all unique shots, but my favorite is the tree. I like the idea of rebirth – of repurposing – that something can serve as a home or hope for new life. Enjoyed the post.

I’m especially fond of the S.F. Chinatown photo! It even has the feel of Merge, the physical crush and draw-in vanishing point. The stop light is green! The traffic cones… wonderful, wonderful! I just want you to know I appreciate the technical aspects of your creation as well as the artistic side!

LOVE the wall of China photo. I love how these ‘opposite’ or at least contradicting realities actually live/occur side by side. I actually find the presence of a tourist center located right by the watchtowers quite amusing!

It is – there are restaurants and t-shirt concessions, and all sorts of other goodies for sale in that litlle cluster of buildings! Buses pull up all day!
