WordPress has challenged its bloggers this week to present photos looking straight down at something. Here are the shots I picked.
Perspective really is everything. We all know what the silhouette of the Eiffel Tower looks like, but here’s a shot looking down from the tower to the courtyard below:
And one taken yesterday from a bridge on our favorite trail, looking down into a shallow part of the Salmon River:
The stream is so clear you can see the stones in the bottom, and the afternoon light makes the tree shadows look as though they’re reaching into the water. I love the Spring!

The light reflexes on the river’s surface give it the appearance of a big fish showing its side.

Lovely photos! I kayak with my mother on the Salmon River; it’s her favorite. Fun to see it from a different perspective.

Those photos are just beautiful. I can see myself sticking my feet after a ride on my bike in that water.

We sometimes walk our daughter’s dog down the path to the water – it is awfully nice to sit on the side of the stream!

Love the Eiffel Tower shot! I took many similar ones when I went to Paris years ago. Was this photo from the perspective walking down the interior stairs of the tower? The walk down was probably one of my favorite parts of seeing the tower, to see it a new light that many don’t get to experience.

Yes, it was taken from the stairs – we decided we would get a whole different perspective going down that way, and we did! Thanks for stopping by! 😉

My Dad and grandfather were both structural engineers, and Grandpa actually studied briefly with Eiffel at the Sorbonne – one of his defining life experiences. As a result, we took the stairs, not the elevator, coming down from the tower, and took photos of the structure all the way! 😉

Wow, that is really cool!!! I didn’t go up this time and probably last did it 20 years ago. Your pictures convinced me that next time I’m there, I should! 🙂
