Welcome to a new regular feature of TRS!
One of my goals with The Retiring Sort was to learn more about retirement planning (goals, lifestyle and finances), and to share what I learned. It occurred to me that I know my own wants and needs, but not yours. So, I decided to challenge readers weekly, no matter how old they are, to give a little thought to their futures. So, periodically, after doing a post myself on a related topic, I’ll suggest an aspect for you to consider and perhaps fit into the context of your own life.
If you choose to comment or post on a topic, that’s great (I suggest tagging posts: TRS Future Challenge and linking to the challenge post so others can also see them.) If you choose not to share them, that’s fine too – but with any luck, you’ll still gain some insight on where you’re headed (or would like to be), and how you can get the most out of your own journey.
It’s never too late, or too early, to start thinking about these things. Here are a couple of the challenges offered so far:

- Envision yourself at 75 – Future Challenge – On Golden Pond
- Facing Change – Future Challenge – Change is a Bummer
- Making a Will – Future Challenge – So What’s the Plan?
Excellent idea! I am recovering from eye surgery in Nicaragua, so when I return to Ometepe Island, I will write a post about planning for healthcare as an expat and link it to one of your posts. Thanks so much. I always enjoy your thoughtful posts.

Great idea! I would like to think a bit more about when I’m going to retire. I have collegues who worked until they were 70, retired and then passed away a year later. I would not want it to be like that with me…I will be back and read more! Happy New Year to you and yours!
