My husband and I have always made it a point to travel whenever we can. Even before we first drove across the country together in 1972, we each savored any visit to a new place. We have always encouraged our kids to travel, and have trekked kids all over California, to Mexico, around Upstate New York and Ontario, Canada, and various other spots – and sent them on trips through school or church whenever they were available.
Since our nest has been empty, we’ve been to three Olympics – two to places where we had close friends, and one with a tour group. We’ve also done “pampered” stints, penny-pinching trips, and some with a little of each. Some of our trips have been overseas, and some in the US. All of them were more than we expected.

One thing we know for sure is that there’s still so much we want to see. Any Travelogue posted on this site was undertaken in our fifties or later, and we will continue to travel – and post about it – as long as we’re able.
I hope you’ll enjoy our journeys, and that you may be inspired to visit some of these spots yourselves – you’re never too old to discover someplace new!

Very nice pictures of the Summer Palace and the interpretation of the blue willow. If you are based in San Francisco or come to visit, go to Asian Art Museum. There are some very good Chinese porcelain works there. There is also a small gallery in London near the British Museum with all blue porcelain. Every artwork has a story behind. Thanks for sharing your interpretation and the stories.

I happened to click on your response to the daily challenge, and delightfully discovered that you are a kindred spirit. My husband and I retired in Nicaragua, and we live on a biosphere reserve called Ometepe Island. Retirement brings many challenges, but also many joys. I will be following your blog from now on!
