Weekly Photo Challenge: Two Subjects

Word Press has a weekly photo challenge – this week’s topic is “Two Subjects,” meaning two subjects are part of the photo composition.  This is my first time trying this, but I came up with a few entries.

Today, while I was out walking I spotted a lone buttercup in a field of clover…..

and last weekend I captured this goose standing guard over his nest at a fountain outside our hotel….

These two I took last Fall on vacation – surf coming in on glistening sand…

and a palm tree moon at dusk…

And now, if I’m going to keep participating in this, I guess I’m gonna have to get a higher resolution camera!

I really like the surf coming up on the sand, that’s a really neat picture. I could hear the gentle surf and I felt like I wanted to be sitting about a foot away. A higher resolution camera might be nice, but I think (and I’m certainly no expert!) that the beauty in photography is in the image and if it’s a small picture that doesn’t make it any less beautiful or powerful. Better cameras don’t equal better photographers! Thanks for visiting my blog and for your comment!

    Lovely entries.
my camera is a pont and shoot digital, but with a high number of pixels and I’m delighted with it. Not so good at catching moving subjects, but great on close ups.

    • Thanks, I definitely need a few more pixels, but also better ability to focus. Although I used this camera at the Olympics, and it does have a setting for capturing motion that works well. I just have trouble when I’m zooming sometimes – the camera just can’t seem to find the subject I want. With my larger film camera, I could focus manually. Something to save up for!

I like the goose picture. Sometimes you can play with a picture in Picasa to make it look great, like increase the color or play with the look.

    • I agree – I have a great Canon SLR for film, but just a point & shoot digital. I just take photos for fun. Both my daughters have the digital version of my Canon, I just haven’t sprung for the better camera yet… maybe this will inspire me!

The 1st image is great. My suggestion would be to crop it much closure & lose most of the surrounding green. The last image is well done.
